Making The Dream Happen.
Training
Eventing is famous for its intense physical and mental demands on both rider and horse. In order to compete at the highest levels requires skill and full time commitment to training. For wellbeing and safety, we're also required to cross train outside the arena during our off-time.
Resources
There are very few options in LA for training and none for competing. Logistics can be tricky. Travel time, lodging, preparation and planning is an exceptionally challenging part of this sport. More often than not, you need many resources to meet all training, competition and horse care requirements.
Support
Unlike many sports, we train and compete individually. While the Eventing world is filled with amazing people, you and your horse ARE the team. A huge part of Eventing is accepting that you will have to operate independently and be self-reliant. For me, this isn't a downfall. It builds courage and has helped me overcome adversity.
Finances
It's no secret horses are expensive! Training and competing in 3-Day is a constant hustle to make sure ends meet. Other sports offer large prizes, but Eventing is done for the love of althletics and horses. For many of us, we rely on donors, sponsorships and our local horse community for assistance.
